    • That’s what the downfall of oneplus was. We got google here selling their phones for 600 dollars. Ain’t no way the oneplus 9 is better than pixel 6. The oneplus 9 should maximum be 700 to 750 dollars.

    • They still sell 9R for 39999. Back in 2018 OP6 8+128 was priced 39999. Sure there are other manufacturers stepping into the game and really redefined VFM proportions even 20% cheaper than OP for Equivalent hardware. But OnePlus Stays at that price and I won't expect it to step down in pricing. But whats bugging me is Release of "budget" phones and keep their best for Overpriced Pro editions.

  • It's a great phone. I've had it since july 2018 and everything has been great, consistent updates, great performance and so on. Only thing that failed is the headphone jack, it won't stay plugged and disconnects really easy (worked around it by using BT headphones) and the battery which is now below its optimum capacity, it does not last the whole day as it used to. But take in mind the phone has been used daily since then, it's only normal wear and tear. On another note, I'm dissapointed by this month's OP 8Pro launch, I was going to upgrade to it but it just does not cut it for me, too expensive and really no killer features.

  • Great review. I think it would haven good to have SD Card support as when additional storage needed it would be great to be able to swap out an existing SD Card for a larger capacity one, rather than having to buy a new phone just to get additional storage.

  • Congrats Marques on 20m views! Watching this on my OnePlus 5. It's been 18 months since I bought it and I've got to say that it has held up pretty well. A+ battery life and performance. Good enough camera and great software. OnePlus offers so much value for money compared to almost 3 times priced flagships here in India. I was tempted to buy the OnePlus 6 but I'll just wait and see what OnePlus does next year. OnePlus can you please bring back the headphone jack? It's coming from a big fan. 😐

  • Revisiting this review as of 15th of december 2021. Still rocking this stamina beast of a phone since launch here in Sweden. Still runs all day without trouble, biggest change is that I went from charging every other day on average to every evening. It's going to be really hard to switch from this phone, where battery, rear fingerprintscanner and chargingspeed is going to be really hard to beat even with most of today flagships!

    Anders WallenthinAnders Wallenthinأشهر قبل
  • I never once regretted purchasing my OnePlus 5T. It nails the two most important aspects of a smartphone: battery life and performance. Dash charging is so incredibly useful. It'd be hard to go back to a phone that doesn't have it. The biometrics are really great. Both the fingerprint sensor and facial recognition have their use, and they're both super quick. Speakers are subpar, as was mentioned, but they get really loud and they get the job done. I assume the experience is very similar on the 6. Under that assumption, I absolutely recommend it for someone who doesn't need to spend an extra 400-500 dollars on gimmicks.

  • Instead of buying a 9 Pro, I bought an 8T, in part, because of your videos and use of it. Now, I'm seeing this video for the first time. I got my 8T to replace my 6. That was an excellent phone continuing on OnePlus' ethos(I've also owned the 1 and 2 models). Sadly, that looks to be ending. Although, I did get the 8T on sale directly from OP for $529. About the same price I paid for my frost white and rose gold 6. Sadly, I later found out OP doesn't offer dual sim phones for the NA market anymore. That will be a dealbreaker for me from now on...

  • My most important feature in a phone is consistent speed. You can keep your A++ camera and wireless charging and give me pure unadulterated speed with a solid A camera (this camera is just as good in the right hands as the iPhone and S9, and is actually better in low light than the Pixel2). Head to Head against the iPhones and Galaxy's this handily beats them in day to day performance. Enough of this "for the price" noise. This phone is in a league of it's own, and that's from someone who came from a Pixel 2XL.

  • I enjoy the approach to this review. Rather than listing specs and blindly comparing to the big dogs, you take into account *why* certain features are the way they are. I think OnePlus went to great lengths to understand the consumer rather than just trying to jump into the massive arms race of tech. During the California Gold Rush clever folks went out for Gold; While the *smart* ones sold shovels.

  • Thank you OnePlus for keeping the headphone jack. My main complaint is the glass back. If they're not going to include wireless charging then I would have much preferred a matte/brushed metal back. They feel nicer than glass, get less fingerprints and there's no chance of cracking. It probably costs less as well.

    • I was actually surprised by this when I got to see one in person, that the back was not glass on this model. It's fortunate in that it's the colour I want without worrying about the fragility.

      WhosyWhosy3 سنوات قبل
    • First of all there is a matte black color which is not glass. Second there is dash charging which is lighting fast. It can charge your phone from 0 to 50 in 15 minutes. So Ithink it is a very good alternative of wireless charging.

Even if wireless charging isn't as fast I hope standard charging is just as fast as it is on the 6 and if they can push battery life even further then great. Also I hope the speakers are better. If so then I will 100% buy it.

We're sadly going to have to switch back to VZW on our next phones and get stuck with limited options that we can pick from vs being able to get 2 phones for basically the price of one.

  • Great review MKBHD. I've had this phone for about a day now and I'm honestly blown away. I don't understand some complaints people have, none of them bother me. The battery life is enough for a full day, plus dash charging is ridiculously fast for those that somehow blow through their battery life. I've never used a screen that's 1080p+ but I can say that the screen is the best looking screen I've seen for 1080p, it gets bright enough for outdoor use and dark enough for late night use and the colors look fantastic (I personally use it on the custom setting all the way to the 'cold' side, i think it looks best that way). I've never used or plan on using wireless charging so it missing that doesn't bother me. The speaker is enough for occassonal videos and what not, but I personally wear headphones 95% of the time so that's not a problem to me (oh p.s., there's a headphone jack, it's sad that's considered a plus in 2018) and once the new OnePlus wireless headphones come out, I know those things will never come off. The thing I was afraid of most was the notch, and honestly, it isn't noticable, and this is coming from someone who thought they would never even try a phone with one and if for whatever reason you just can't stand it, you can "turn it off" in the software. Storage wise 128gb is more than I'd ever need, so no sd slot isn't a minus for me either. The face and fingerprint unlock is insanley fast and this phone is unnecessarily smooth, I swear nothing can slow this thing down. And for those saying it's bad for not having water protection, just don't use the phone in the bath, you should be washing yourself anyways, and put it in your pocket when you're taking a leak, it's that easy. I hate all the people trying to put this phone down because it's missing certain features, especially the people saying wait for the next one because it will be better. Of course it will be better, but if you're in need of a new phone then I'd highly recommend it, if your phone is still good and you think you can wait a few more months for the 6t or 7 or whatever it's called, then wait. But stop putting this phone and everyone that has bought it down just because YOU don't think it's worth it. Missing those things does not make it a bad phone by any means. This phone is by far the greatest phone I've owned, I'm absolutely blown away and I feel anyone who buys it will be just as impressed and happy with their purchase. Thanks for listening, and if you bought the OnePlus 6 too, then enjoy it! I know I am.

  • now that the phone has been out for a good while can anyone tell me how durable it is in long term daily use? i'm heavily considering upgrading to this phone from my htc one m8 that i bought close to 3 years ago. the only real doubts i have are over the lack of an IP rating as i'm hoping this phone will last me another solid 3 years (preferably longer) and i have had some issues with a xperia z, which was supposed to be water proof, getting water damage from regular day to day use in the past.

  • my personal favorite back for the one plus is not glass or metal but the sandstone finish on plastic they used to do back on the OP1 and 2. very unique and durable. actually my mum has an OP2 and refuses to upgrade because of it. very nice to hold and tons of grip. Id love to see OP bring this back, it would also help reduce production cost.

  • Hey Marques, I just got a Oneplus 6 and ever since I did my update IG videos would start off clear but then go blurry after 2secs into it. Have you experienced this at all or have you heard any similar complaints? Do you know any possible solutions for this at all? I've tried reaching out in the Oneplus community app but pple keep annoyingly saying it's my internet connection but I don't think that's the case. I would love your opinion on this please!

    • @Garrett Reyman my Xperia has battery care, so it fast charges up to 90% then very slowly charges up to 100%. It detects when you typically plug/unplug it every day and schedules the charge accordingly. My Xperia is two years old and the battery is just as good now as it was new, so it works great and I still get fast charging (and wireless charging, which I've maybe used twice)

      1mlb7041mlb7049 أشهر قبل

  • Wireless charging provides very little utility and is inefficient from a physics standpoint compared to standard charging. It is a useless organ much like the appendix. However, the water resistance, battery life, and performance is something that is actually useful. I'm glad that OnePlus is putting efforts to add some level of water resistance to it they are very good in terms of utility per dollar.

  • Best review I've seen of the phone. Very well done. I've been using a 1+5 since it came out. I post pics and videos all the time, all over social media. Nobody has ever said the media quality looked like it was taken by a "cheap" phone. So much these days is focused on how good the cameras are, but the reality is, 95% of the public won't notice or care less. Same thing with the display. Many people have seen my phone and commented how great it looks, or watched a video I show them and never commented "oh is that only a 1080p display? I could tell"... 😂 I've been COMPLETELY happy switching from a Galaxy phone (been a user since the Galaxy S1) to my 1+5. I'll be buying the 1+6 to replace my wife's Note 5. Keep up the good work

    • as i said you worry about the wrong thing who cares what other people think?, besides as i said before $600 is not really cheap and that's just this phone which is an exception to the rule, Samsung and Google pixel devices are price equally with iphones so no android is not that much cheaper than iphones it all depends the type of phone you get, the good thing about android is that you have choices instead of apple which all you have are iphones, at the end of the day is up to you but i can't spend money on something that won't make me happy just to be fashionable and don't make coworkers think i'm poor, again that the stupidest thing i have ever heard.

  • 1st video I have watched from my OnePlus 6! Gotta agree on the speaker situation; I was used to the stereo ones of the Nexus 6P, so this feels like a step down. But as for the rest, they've really made an awesome job, the design is absolutely SLIK, love the matte finishing, and I don't mind the notch at all 😊

    • Hey Madhav! Sorry for the late reply, I just saw it :) I can tell you that I don't see any difference; the OP6 screen is really really good. I think you can spot some differences just if you put your eyes attached to the screen (or surely if you use VR headsets); for everyday use, I'm actually glad for this choice as it increases the battery life :)

  • That company has come a long way. I got one of the early OnePlus Ones with an invite. it was OK at first but had issues later. I had to make AR-too videos to demonstrate those. But after I did that, they sent me another phone, which has been great. I still use it. Later a software update made it not see the device as USB storage when I plugged it in. This time no AR-too needed, just a toll free phone call and a presumably Chinese girl, picked up the phone right away and walked me through it in couple minutes speaking rather good English. They have come a long way.

Now I've heard good things about the camera, and have seen some example photos, but I want to know how does it compare (just the camera) to my current phone for 3 years now, the Nexus 6P. We have fast wireless charging(1.5× faster than your wired charging)and if you guys use wireless charging we are able to charge our phone 3× faster than you guys!!!guess people who use iPhone never experienced fast charging.... I am just gonna say one *fact* : - Apple sold 25 million fewer iPhone Xs this year than iPhone 7s last year when it was their flagship....yet they made 50 billion dollars more profit from the iPhone X than the iPhone 7! And I don't want to state the obvious,we all know why this happened...
