    • @Bernkastel821 I have T-Mobile military unlimited plan. 2 lines, total 80 bucks including taxes with Netflix, as well as some other perks. If you check all the carriers out, you will find that T-Mobiles cap is 50 gigs and the others are less. I have tested this out by really trying to get over that 50 gig mark and have done so over at least over a dozen times. Then I quit trying because for the rest of the billing cycle I saw no throttling after reaching at times 60 gigs to about 80 gigs. T-Mobile even states that they MAY throttle after 50 depending...as most do. But I saw none. Now, the reason it was difficult to get over that 50 gig threshold to start with was because almost all streaming services like Netflix, Pandora, Spotify, etc.....DON'T count towards your data use.

  • Watching in 2021, this is great and it's amazing to see how you're so on point with what is on the horizon! I left my carrier for a certain one that Deadpool recommended and I'm very happy with it especially for the price, and living in the DMV 5g is very accessible. But yeah, the drawbacks are noticable as I work for the railroads and when I leave the metro hubs it goes back to 4g. But hey, a 5g capable phone running on a 4g network feels like a VR capable PC rig running a single screen FPS game and it still feels nice. And when I get back in around 5G areas holy effing eff it is noticable! And yo just for the conspiracy lulz, still no crowny virus, here.

  • The thing about the microwave is actually wrong. The physical thing is that the microwave has a eletromagnect chamber that doesn't allow the waves to go trough the metal plates and the "glass". On the front you has this grill that works to, because his holes are never to big for the lang of the eletromagnect wave. That is why you should never drill a hole on it and you shouldn't use too old microwaves because probably has some. The physical concept is called Faraday Cage. And the real reason of those frequencies not going to far is because the higher is his value, more energy you would spend to produce a bright spot. And a good exemple for that is thinking of why blue laser are soo powerfull and the red ones aren't. Apologies for my english. I'm not a native speaker.

It is still paradoxical to have it implemented ..medical community & environmentalists should also come up with their research on how it is affecting other things besides mobiles during trials as nobody would like to be under the exposure of short-waves for a longer period of time. • @Ben What? I clearly mentioned bandwidth. 5G has been SPECIFICALLY designed to be able to handle a very large number of connected devices (much much greater bandwidth). 5G will tap into bandwidth that is untapped by 4G. The higher frequencies used by 5G aren't already cluttered with existing cellular data. Of course, bandwidth is shared. Download and upload speeds will suffer as the number of connections increases, but despite that 5G testing has shown that the average speed will be around 100 MBps. That's still 10 times faster than your average 4G connection. What's so hard to understand?

      M AM A2 سنوات قبل
    • @M A I was refering to the bandwidth shared upon hundreds of people downloading at the same time, not how many people can connect to the network at the same time. It's the same with your home internet connection, if you are alone in your home downloading, it's gonna be 100% banwidth for you, but if every family member downloads something or all watch a video on their computer at the same time, it's gonna be much slower, effectively sharing the bandwidth equally.

      BenBen2 سنوات قبل
    • @Ben Well, I read that current testing and research shows that 5G will be able to handle up to 1,000 devices per meter. That's wayyyyy more than 4G can handle. 5G is also more directional, the signal is more intentional and efficient. With 4G the radio signals move in all kinds of directions. 5G can handle a very wide frequency range untapped by 4G (24GHz < frq

  • Thank you for the explanation, but I'm still missing a point. What is the point of 5G? Yes, it's great to have a ludicrously fast connection, but....do you really need it? Let me explain: Most of us, use connectivity to read email, use social networks, watch videos, chat, read news and other stuff on the internet. To do all of this, the 4G network proved to be more than enough. The only real noticeable advantage of the 5G is when one has to download a (relatively) large file or is a gamer. While the former can be an extremely useful feature , the latter is kinda detrimental. Why would one go outside to play a video game instead of doing it in the comfort of his own house (Or the house of friend)? Seriously: What is the point of going to a pub, sit down in a corner and vegetate for hours?

    Awful TruthAwful Truthسنوات قبل
    • I agree with you that 5g is now a political issue, not a practical technology. In fact, there is no application that needs such a large amount of traffic. Currently available 8K video, mobile phone screen resolution is not enough, and TV with optical fiber communication is better.

      xiao dianxiao dianسنوات قبل
    • For me, the main area that 4g lacks is for vr. 360 video and gaming is being held back by 4g, as far as quality. That's a massive amount of data per frame, compared to flat screen, holding games back to cartoony-looking graphics. Can't wait to see what they can do with that much more speed!

I'd rather they implement it on 5ghz at the most and preferably at existing LTE frequencies. Putting it at >28ghz is going to give you crap coverage and the reality of how dense the antenna will need to be is pretty crazy. I also haven't seen any papers on how this would affect tissue, but from what I understand, it should not be an issue at reasonable distances.

  • DoD already used up a big part of the 5G MMW frequencies (spectrum allocation for 5G), leaving less commercial use. The excerpt below explains why the U.S. is still struggling with 5G in terms of implementation. According to the National Security Implications of Fifth Generation (5G) Mobile Technologies document and excerpt to find out why the U.S. is still behind with 5G in building up capacity. ("The Department of Defense (DOD), however, holds large portions of the usable spectrum. Although DOD uses certain MMW frequencies for high-profile military applications such as Advanced Extremely High-Frequency satellites that provide assured global communications for U.S. forces, it extensively uses sub-6 frequencies-leaving less sub-6 availability in the United States than in other countries. The Defense Innovation Board (DIB) advised DOD to consider sharing sub-6 spectrum to facilitate the build-out of 5G networks and the development of 5G technologies used in the sub-6 band. While DOD has been moving toward greater spectrum sharing, it has expressed concern that sharing presents operational, interference, and security issues for DOD users. As an alternative to spectrum sharing, some analysts have argued that portions of the sub-6 spectrum should be reserved for commercial use. This would require DOD to relocate certain applications to other parts of the spectrum. The DIB estimates this approach would take around 10 years to complete, as opposed to 5 years for spectrum sharing.")

    • @Tom Mroz 5G Network is not entirely for making phones faster. Its a future proof infrastructure for autonomous cars and many more applications that need high speed internet connectivity. And yes, your phone will be included in there as well. Problem with 4G is that we have pockets of dead zones everywhere; for example in my city Los Angles. It's much easier to eliminate dead zones with 5G network than implementing and leasing towers for 4G network. 5G network hasn't even started yet, it will take some time to become really good. Once it's been implemented everywhere you'll will never go back to 4G:)

    • Another big thing about 5g, besides speed and latency, is the massive amount of devices that can be serviced by a node, not having good reception at big crowds (like in a music festival) will be a thing of the past. This will allow having tons of IoT devices connected all over the world, without compromissing on connectivity for "human" users

I've been dreaming about this all my life, a phone with a better connection shares to another phone nearby. We just have to make blockchain stuff a new normal so we can finally stop being paranoid about all the privacy concerns from a centralized system. Can only happen in certain cities with lots of money as some fancy tech gimmick to attract tourists and rich folks (I'm looking at you Dubai), but I doubt it will be of any use to the general public in any near future. Right now it's just used as a phone selling point because there's really nothing new to be added, totally useless and just pumps the price up.

In practice, microwave (2.45 GHz) and 2.4 GHz WiFi are practically the same thing it’s just that one has intensity of about 1000-10000x stronger.

IIRC, I liked the idea of WiMax more back in the day because it was opensource / free where LTE was licensed. Well, Sprint didn't have the funds to do this properly after the disaster of buying Nextel. They were already operating on 1900 MHz voice for their CDMA network and at an inherent disadvantage vs Verizon's CDMA at lower frequencies. They could operate fewer towers and have much better building penetration.

Is there a realistic report on 5G health study, the tech field fights the alternative health fields, they both mock each other, and us folks are left to not trust either & are left out clueless. Is it about individual physical sensitivity in the end, to the rays/beams? I’m not talking about rumours/conspiracy on dead birds, but if exposure to so many antennas does affect some or us before 4G, imagine 5G? 3. 5G is no way near completion, so what’s the 6G talk/dev, will it at least solve the exaggerated # of nodes problems? 5G mimics mayor Guiliani’s NY crime problem solving, merely increasing # of copes/nodes to not solve the root cause issues ; ) is 6G more efficient?

So for now, the 5 G phone is good only for the urban and city use. So you can't use the 5 G phone on a train, plane, boat, or a car on the road. Certainly commercial truckers won't be able to use it.

    • @MrCarl A flashlight gives off radiation, in the 300'ish THz range, meaning it's at least a thousand fold more energetic, than anything a 5G emitter could output (being at about 30GHz). Also, most flashlights outputs anywhere between 3W and 50W of EM energy, while you'll struggle to receive more than 0.5W of EM energy from 5G. So yes, by your claims that "5G can give you cancer", we'd all receive so much cancer, our cancer would have cancer from all the regular lightbulbs around us.

    • @EVOLICIOUS dude. Just because 5g is used in particular way now does not mean it won't be more commonly used in the future. Just like 4g being more commonly used over 3g. The "g" stands for generation. As demands for higher bandwidth and faster transactions continue to climb, so will be the demand for 5g. Eventually 5g will be everywhere. This is a no-brainer, 5g *will replace 4g* in terms of everyday use.

      ghettoandroidghettoandroid2 سنوات قبل

If no one is buying a folding phone now, why would they spend millions to make a better version ? The Iphone X already showed that once with the bold move from apple which cost them a fortune but now are claiming it back since a few people actually bought the phone. A lot of things happen this way and if you root for something to become readily available you have to spend money early on to help the people make it happen as soons a possible.(Investment of sorts)
